Description
Is a large deciduous shrub with unique and colorful late winter early spring flowers ,blooming before the foliage. Flower buds form in autumn in pendulous racemes. Each flowering raceme up to 4” with up to 10-20 bell-shaped yellow-green flowers. This large shrub grows to 3-4 metres tall upright, yet arching habit. During the growing season, stems Can have chestnut brown color. Foliage may turn rosy red through yellow in autumn. Common name Spiketail which makes a great woodland specimen or south facing shrub , can be trained to wall for great effect and even espaliered. Native to Himalayas and Eastern Asia.
