Description
An endangered species magnolia , native to the Florida Panhandle & southern Appalachians USA . White sweet perfumed flowers with painted purple throats, the blossoms are larger than dinner plates in early summer.
Ashe magnolias are grown as extraordinary landscaping plants in excess of 6-9 metres, huge flowers and leaves make them popular among discerning gardeners. The leaves grow up to 60-80 cm long. They prefer a sheltered position out of wind , although once established they are relatively sun hardy.
