Trees and Shrubs

A medium-sized to large shrub with downy stems, intermediate between the parents. Leaves turing to rich scarlet, orange and flame in autumn.

Ribes speciossum Fuchsia flowering Gooseberry, Ribes speciosum is a 1 metre semi-evergreen shrub ( pretty much deciduous here ) with red fuchsia-like flowers in early August just after the glossy green foliage emerges from winter. This gooseberry has small spiny stems and small red jewel fruits later in summer.

Origin: Southern California

Robinia pseudoacacia FrisiaA truly beautiful and fast growing hardy tree. Soft butter yellow foliage and white Perfumed flowers in spring. Unfortunately it will sucker , due diligence should be shown where too Plant any robinia as they are all grafted on suckering stocks.

Robinia pseudoacacia Twisted SisterA contorted form of Tree Wisteria ( Black Locust ) , with twisted and bent branching throughout all the plant ... A deciduous shrub that is extra hardy and mass flowers white perfumed pea flowers in spring

Californian tree poppy, semi evergreen perennial/ shrub,  Native to southern California, 2 m (7 ft) in height/wide, grows 10-20 cm white, with a yellow insert flowers, full sun, drought tolerant. Good for rocky/sloping areas.    

Rothmannia globosa1A slender tree, usually 4-7 metre Tall, the bark is brown or dark grey, everygreen. White flower, flowering around September.

ruscus aculeatus © 2013A low evergreen shrub with flat shoots that look like spine-tipped leaves. Small green flowers in spring followed by red berries. Very hardy and tolerant of deep shade. Commonly known as Butcher’s Broom. Has been used for medicinal purposes to treat varicose veins.

Ruscus x microglossus A shade loving plant that can tolerate very difficult conditions and still thrive ... Will make a dense green carpet up to but rarely more than 1 metre tall in semi or deep shade needs little care once initially started .... Unusual leaf based small flowers..... It's cousin ruscus aculeatus also suited and equally hardy in shade with masses of bright red berries
